The NPC armies spawn from each capital, wander to a random spot on the border, and earn about 1500 AP before returning home.
This is kinda lame, not in that they exist (I like the 'normalizing' effect of them, faster refresh for the loser, slower for the winner), but that players are completely out of the loop as for dealing with them!
1)We can't defend against them, they earn that 1500ap(ish) no matter what we do, so we just have to try and spam CPs on wherever they're headed. It would be awesome if you made this into a kind of 'boss' encounter. Like a big COOP with maybe 5 people(not sure if servers can handle it, but I figured it would be plausible, not too high) to attack their army.... Yeah, all 100 units of it. Perhaps it will come in waves of 25 to keep lag down. If the army is defeated, it doesn't earn any CP. if it wins it does earn the CP.
2) Allow people to increase the army size! Right now they jsut send 100ish Light INF. Let people buy other units and attach them to it before it leaves the capital. (any units added after the army has left, will be included in the next circuit) The extra size should generate more AP, as well as make the above suggestion more difficult; now the army has 560 light infantry, 150 archers, 50 heavies, etc etc.
3)Allow guilds to have their own NPC armies that originate from their claimed regions, are stocked as per point #2(Perhaps ENTIRELY by the guild, no 'free' units), and defeated as outlined in point#1. NOTE:Guilds should be able to determine the region attacked. The max army size would be limited by guild size. This would also be a great way for the guild position of "general" to have meaning (in that he'd be theonly one that set the destination!)
