I did acknowledge that archer fire does not allow for retreating when I clarified fleeing mechanics to you. I dont know what the Dev intention is behind that. It hasnt been a big enough problem for me to consider suggestions to change it.
This must have been a PvP match, otherwise I dont know why you would run around the whole edge of the map after it became painfully obvious archer fire would not let you retreat. If it was a PvE match, it sounds like you wouldve had the whole edge of the map to use to reposition for a melee engagement to allow for a retreat.
This is partly why there are a lot of people asking for XP losses to be removed from PvP. I dont personally feel there is a need to do so in PvE.
About the rest of your post and the suggestion to not lose XP when your unit dies from FF:
- Firstly its a bad idea that is difficult to implement fairly and opens the door to exploitation. It would be a waste of valuable dev time.
- You are correct - I wasnt there. What is also clear to anyone who has done plenty of co-ops is that you are trying to use an exaggerated border case scenario that rarely happens with heavy hyperbole to try and demand this change.
- Lastly, you did not understand the mechanics of fleeing and then you accuse others of talking out of their ass. To top it off, you try to use hypothetical Kred payments in an attempt to extort this poorly thought out shotgun-changes in a ragequit post. Probably not the best way to affect positive change.
I do think gratuitous FF should be punished, but FF is very often used as a scapegoat. A lot of gamers will never look at how they could have done better if there was anything at all that they can blame on someone else. The whole situation instantly becomes that other person's fault.
I have also seen players out there who will see allied archers successfully kiting, firing upon, and killing a heavy unit, who will then immediately rush over to engage the heavies in melee so that they get those kills instead of the ranged ally. It can be annoying and greedy. I do not see victims of FF having the high moral ground all the time.
