Soften the limits/requirements for guild halls Empty
PostSubject: Soften the limits/requirements for guild halls   Soften the limits/requirements for guild halls I_icon_minitimeWed Dec 11, 2013 1:36 pm

Title. As a clear organization and structure strengthens guilds, a guild hall is a valuable asset. Sadly, forums on kongregate are open to be viewed by all, and at this moment, only the first 20 guilds are allowed to own a guild hall in these forums.

I suggest to lower this requirement.

Why? It seems odd to me, that certain guilds are allowed to decide on topics/updates, and act as a spokesman of the BC community, yet these guilds that are seen worthy of fulfilling this role, are not seen worthy of a guild hall. IMHO, The first 28 guilds that are part of the high council, should be included in any case, to simplify things, and just draw a clear and simple stance on this.

But how far would you draw the line? Ideally, you want to make sure that not every single person can start a guild hall, since it would lead to a massive amount of clogged up, wasted space in these forums. But the more guilds that can acces a guild hall, the more users the main forums will get. In general, due to the easy lay out of these forums, they will get more name and users, due to these guild halls.

TL;DR
Lower the requirements for a guild, to start a guild hall.

in any case, make sure that those in the HC, can also own a guild hall.

Ideally, try raising this bar a bit further, to +- the first thirty-forty guilds.

**This is just my Opinion**

I think the main reason there isn't more guilds in the guild halls is because it's a lot of work for something that isn't very beneficiary. Guilds past the 20 mark don't have nearly as many players as the top 20 guilds and thus shouldn't waste the time of the developers to add every individual on to the guild halls. 20 guilds with 100+ players and every time a new player registers they have to be added to guild hall is already a lot of work. Also, why would a guild so small need their own forum hall? Forum halls are for the top 20 guilds because they have lots of stuff to talk about and post.

TL;DR It's a lot of work for a small cause

Actually the developer have to do the following:

  • Receive an email from the leader of the guild;
  • Read email;
  • Verify person really is guild leader & qualified;
  • Create forum;
  • Create a group for the guild & assign it to the forum;
  • Create a moderator group for the guild & assign it to moderate the forum;
  • Assign the guild leader as the group moderator of both the guild group & the guild moderator group;
  • Handle all questions & issues this causes.

The guild leader then:

  • Adds the individual members of the guild to the guild group (this makes them able to see the guild forum);
  • Adds any guild members to act as moderators to the guild moderator group (this makes them able to moderate the guild forum).

Still work for the developers (say one to two hours per guild) -- but not as much as if they have to add each member.

First of all, don't, please don't hesitate posting your opinion.

At this moment, I speak for Mystic Valor, which has more members at this time of speaking (46), than 5 out of the 20 guilds that actually have a guild hall. But if you look at The Dark Side, 77 members, ranked 21, they have more members than 12 of the top 20 guilds.

As stated before, an opportunity to organize your guild, creates a better internal structure which enhances preformances. Besides, it offers the opportunity to communicate with all members, from all timezones without having to use a public chat.

I guess you are right, but every guild has important stuff to talk about. The more members a guild gets, the more stuff they get to talk about aswell.

This is dependant of the lay out. If the entire High council, so only the first 28 guilds were given this right, it would result in making 1, general help guide for the leaders, and having to add each of these leaders to their respective hall. In my opinion a good two hours at maximum.

It depends for whom its considered beneficiary. Any guild not having a guild hall will enjoy the chance to get one, but indeed a guild like halls of insanity, will likely indeed not use their guild hall, due to their membercount. But if we take a look at the 28 guilds, HOI is the only guild this is appliable to. Besides from that, I think the seccond part of that argument was answered by joyce in the above post.

Even if they aren't allowed in now... It's easy to grow up to the 2nd page since there are many inactive guilds. Few days here or there...
