| Ok, reality AND fantasy, we all know what happens with melee troops that stand in the way of Cav. "This doesn´t end well!" For me it is mildly annoying that 4 units of Cav, put to a hidden spot to rear the melee troops after they lock up, gets locked on maybe even only one unit of Archers standing in the way. As soon as I send that Cav over and do not take the extra route (translated: waste time), they cross path with that one unit and lock up. I know most of the times that is solved quickly, but it leaves the other troops without the planned backup and leads to more casualties. Now my idea would be that Cav should be able to pass such units, obviously including attack of opportunity like when they would flee. This would allow a smoother tactical use of Cav in my opinion. And it is way more realistic even for a fantasy setting. Tldr: Select Cav, click target = attack and lock up with that unit. Select Cav, click spot behind target = Cav rides through, risking attack(s) of opportunity. Not sure if this throws balancing overboard too much, but I wanted to collect feedback on the thought nevertheless. | |

Would think that your cav crush the archer. I actually like the way they have it now. Although I hate when my cav goes against LIA. That's when it's trouble for me perhaps melee units have a 5- melee in first round of combat against cav or something? | |

| Most of the time it is over quick yes. But let it be LIA, those seconds the battle takes is enough for the next unit to arrive and so on... This is no big deal and when I can set up the melee troops good enough before they arrive there is enough time to move the Cav around. Would be easier for me btw if we could scroll out a bit to see more of the map at the same time. Not that far that the units get too small, just a little bit. I can deal with it the way it is, and probably that will trigger the usual "Don´t fix what isn´t broken." routine. But I felt like suggesting it anyway and there is always room for change. Even if noone likes it, I got it out of the system now. | |
