There is that problem, yes, but there is also the game system for city building that is even more at fault.
If you ever decide to analyze the amount of resources you need to plow through the Military Research tree you will notice something very obvious: It requires a vastly higher amount of Iron than any other resource.
If you look at the buildings that are required for researching the Military Research Tree it becomes very obvious that Iron is again the resource required in much greater quantity than any other resource. Buildings like the Command Center, which are required to build the higher levels of the buildings Required for the Military Research Tree also requires more Iron than even gold at almost every level.
HALF of the resource buildings require more Iron every level than any other resource.
The Barracks, while requiring Stone as the primary resource also require a large portion of Iron, just slightly behind gold and more than wood.
The Statue requires more Iron than Gold or Wood.
So RUNESLAYER, it actually is the Dev's fault, in a real way, that the demand for Iron is WAY higher than the demand for anything else.
If the costs for buildings were even somewhat optimized to where Iron was not the end all and be all of resources, things would be different. You (Devs) control that....not the players.
